Need some "slick" advise

I have an AMS oil dealer sponsoring my car this season of racing. I am of the understanding that they are a really superior oil product (from people other than the dealer). I am going to be running a 0 W30 oil to race.

The sponsor is going to give me all my lubricants. My question is about my tranny (T56). It is supposed to take a II IIE or III ATF. Is there anything that would work better? Is there anything that I should avoid running in a T56? I basically have access to the best synthetic fluids made does anyone have a suggestion?

0W-30 is too thin for a race situation. The only way I would use an oil that light would be in a situation where thousanths of a second were important and engine longevity was not. If I were using Amsoil, I would go with the 20W-50. Make sure the oil is warm before racing.

As far as the tranny goes, I don't know that it's quite so critical in an M6. Just use the regular Amsoil ATF and I am sure it will be fine.

I have found that Mobil 1 0-30 is worth a tenth in the eighth mile on my Stocker motors over non-synthetic oil. Bearing etc. look fine. I run my motors to 7200 rpm on every run.

The biggest problem that you might run into with various lubes in the T56 is with the synchros - they require some friction to work correctly (just like clutches in an auto, eh?), and so you may find a difference in shift feel when experimenting with different formulations of ATF.

I run 0W-30 i my race motor? So a lot of people I know that have some 1500+ race engines. Always run a thin oil, especially in high RPM motors that you can get away with. If your oil pressure is low then move up to the next thicker.

If you run Stock Eliminator and your oil pressure is low (or zero) that just means you are on a heads-up run with 2.5-3 quarts of oil in the pan, try that with non-synthetic oil at 7200!!

Most T-56s have a sticker on them stating they need Dexron IIe. But I am almost positive that Dexron III simply replaces IIe, so it is usable too.
