Need help fasing in the Distributor
Just about to put the motor in but need some help here. A friend of mine was going to help out, but I want to put the motor in on Sunday. I'm running a single plain intake. Crank Trigger is mounted, but now I need to setup up the distributor. Motor is at TDC, so where do I go from there???

Re: Need help fasing in the Distributor
You need a distributor cap with a hole drilled in it so that you can see the rotor. Using the crank trigger, set the timing to where you want it. Using the cap with the hole, rotate the distributor until the rotor lines up with a plug contact. You'll need to use the timing light to watch the rotor through the hole. Turning the distributor won't change the timing since the timing is done with the crank trigger. When the timing tells the plug to fire, you want the rotor to be pointing diectly at the plug terminal.

I was told to have the motor at TDC then turn it over untill my timming pointer is at 45. Drop the distributor in witch should be pointing at #1 cyn. I then set the crank trigger. I'm running Fast sequin(spelling). I was also told to lock out the automatic advance on the distributor. It's probally really easy, but I've never done it before.

Bring your motor to 50* before tdc set your Crank trigger and set your crank reference angle to 50 in your parameters in the FAST tables. With the locked out advance you will want to set your distributor to your timing at WOT .In my set up with my boost i run 26* max timing but run 38-39 at lower rpms if you have this large of a span in your timing tables and set it as instructed in the fast manual you will miss fire at WOT . This is what has worked for me.At the lower rpms it will have plenty of time to fire with the rotor phasing off some what.
