My engine buildup...
My engine buildup...
Alright guys...I am open to any and all opinions, and very sorry for the long post right off the bat. Just trying to be specific in what I want. I have done a couple searches, but haven't really found what I am looking for. I have an 88 IROC w/a 305TPI and it's just too slow
haha. Anyways, I am looking for a RELIABLE and streetable engine setup. I was thinking mid 12s N/A and maybe low-mid 11s on nitrous. I think going with a 355 would definitely end up requiring something too radical for what I am looking to do, so a 383 would probably be my best bet. I want to go with a hydraulic roller setup to maximize streetability. I think a 4-bolt main would be a good choice, so should I look for a late-model roller truck block w/a 4-bolt main? I found this rotating assembly on eBay, obviosuly. What do you guys think? Next would be the cam. I was browsing some of Comps cams and was lookin at the Xtreme Energy lineup. The XR276HR seemed somewhat streetable, but I'm not sure if it will give me the power I am looking to get. I didn't get to look through too many other product lines. Would you guys recommend a custom grind and if so, which company do you think? Next up...heads. I want the car to have a decent amount of low-end grunt, but I am sick of running out of power by 5000. I was hoping to rev to 6500 because I think I will be running the HSR and I want to maximize its potential. What brand and rating should I be paying attention to along with CC size? I'm not sure exactly what my C/R should be to maximize hp and yet be safe for nitrous. AFR and Dart always seem to stick out as quality heads. After that I think I'll be going with the HSR and a 58mm TB. I'd like to stick with a 700R4 for OD to cruize, and Pro-Builts 700R4 seem like a good choice. Would you guys recommend a custom converter, or would an out of the box 3000-3200 be ok? I'd probably shoot for 3.73s in the rear and some nice tires for traction. 12-bolt down the line after a couple launches and the 10 bolt blows up. I am very sorry for the long post, but I am going about this pretty much on my own because I am surrounded by a Ford crew who build nothing but Mustang engines and its time to show them what my car can do. haha I realize you guys will probably need to know a budget, but just go along with some of my suggestions and maybe give some of your own. I appreciate this so much. Sorry again for the long post!
