To much oil pressure blew out rear seal

Just finished putting together the 383 with 9# of boost. The car runs great. I've only taken it on short trips and only put 30 miles on it. I haven't jumped on it yet and haven't been over 4k rpm.

My oil pressure is like 70-80 psi. Tonight on the way home I was in 4th gear and about 3k rpm I slowly started to floor it to about 4500 rpm and I had a surge in power- that's what it felt like. Then I saw all this smoke and my oil pressure started dropping.

I pulled over and noticed that the oil filler cap blew off. I put 4 quarts of oil in and went home. When I got home I looked underneth the car and the whole car was soaked and what looks like the rear main seal is leaking bad.

Whats going on, any ideas?

Scott

I wouldn't be going into boost at all for at least 500 miles depending what kind of rings you went with. After checking it out you might be able to drive it and hope the rings seat after a while. Like 12Second3rdgen said, sounds like blowby

If it was blowby, wouldn't I get alot of smoke thru the valve cover?
I think I'm building up to much pressure internaly and I need to vent it out better. I'm not sure if this is caused by blowby or not.
I'm open for more suggestions or ideas.

Maybe my PCV is not working correctly or is clogged.

I'm using Plasma moly rings. Also, if thats the case in regards to the boost and I disconnect the blower belt, do you think I might have hurt anything internaly?

You don't have to disconnect the belt, Just stay out of boost for a while, And yes you could have some crankcase venting problems, but with so few miles I would drive it for a while without getting on it and see if anything changes.

I'm probably a little out of my field here, but on S/C'd setups, don't you have to route the PCV suction side back to the air inlet (with an oil separator in line), in front of the blower, to avoid overpressuring the crankcase?
