Modify lt1 intake to accept standard distributor

Has anybody done it ? I know GM has a carb version intake for the lt1 like this but has anyone done an EFI version? Any thoughts or insight?

Bret Bauer's (SStroker Ace) shop (Bauer Racing Engines) can do this for you. I do not know the details.

Thanks Rich....I was thinking of actually using the standard dist. base/shaft and mounting the opti dist to it.....basically relocating the opti. Just a thought right now.

Yes I was thinking the same thing. Chevy Trucks use a crab type of dist. I am wondering if that can be adapted for the obd1 & 2 pcms for our cars … ..... to get rid of the opti all together …. As anyone done this?

Check out www.lt1intake.com

A lot of 3rd gen guys have been modifying your intakes to accept a 3rd gen type distributor, I assume that's what you mean by "standard distributor." There are directions and everything on that site.

I want to keep the opti for its high / low res. signal(optical sensor) that it supplies to the pcm. I know some people have kept the opti in the stock position and used the high/low signal while using a standard distributor to distribute spark with a modified intake. Like I said earlier....I just want to relocate the opti to ease maintainence.Anymore thoughts on adapting opti to standard dist. base.

Thanks for the link Rippn....that pretty much explains how to adapt the SBC distributor base to the lt1 intake.

I think this months issue of Chevy high performance mag has a question answer about this in the very back technical section. I didnt read all the way through it but it might help.
