Maximum DCR before coating is required
Maximum DCR before coating is required
I am in the last steps of picking out parts for my 396 stroker build up. This is what I hav so far:
LT1 Block 0 decked
Holley 1150 Dominator
Edelbrock Super Victor Intake
AFR LT4 227cc Competition Ported Heads 309/230cfm @.700
Crane Custom Grind 290/262 intake, 294/266 exhaust, both with .660 lift
Eagle 4340 3.875 Crank
Eagle 4340 6.00 Big Stroke Rods
JE 4.030 Forged Pistons
Eagle splayed main caps
Comp Endure-x lifters
T&D 1.5/1.5 Shaft mount rockers
MSD Pro-Billet Distributor w/ Digital 6
I need to order the heads soon and was thinking of making the chambers 64cc which would make 11.44SCR and 8.69DCR. I want to run it on 94 octane sunoco gas and was wondering if it was possible to run this kind of DCR without coating the pistons and valves and running the full 36* of advance. The quinch will be 0.039. Some advice will be very helpful. Thanks.

Re: Maximum DCR before coating is required
i was running 12.5:1 on ultra 94 with a 383 but my cast crank couldnt take the abuse.... it didn't ping thou... well just the one time when the gas jockey put reg in it lol.
but then again i hade a functional knock sensor also that would of pulled timing for me... why the carb? didnt your engine start out fuel injection? why would you want to convert it back to carb

Re: Maximum DCR before coating is required
The cam is set-up with a 110 LSA and a 106 ICL. The reason why im going carb is because fuelie intakes wont provide enough flow for my motor and I cant spin it as high with the OEM computer.
