hey, I have a set of 487 heads off a 72 or 73 corvette that I had opened up to fit 2.02/1.6" valves and the guy who opened em up did something to open up the bowl a bit too, said it would help with the bigger valves..

Anyway, I have all the tools to do portwork (carbide burrs, sanding drums...), but I dont have the skills/knowledge to do it. I was wondering if you pro guys could give me a start on what to do to get some more bang out of my old heads? any help is greatly appreciated

that's Funny .... i just removed my old SBC 406 cid 420HP engine
out my old Chevy Suburban...and sold that old Suburban.

i have 487x Heads on it with 2.080/1.600 valves
80.0 cc Chambers to get real-measured 10.02:1 CR
with 270HE Cam,
Chambers were opened up and polished to get CC lower to 80.0cc
for pump gas

3/8 Screw-in Studs w/5/16 GM guideplates , Phosphor/Bronze guides,
pushrod area milled, spring seats cut for 1.480"OD but i ran
smaller stock OD aftermarket CompCams springs.

pretty sure 1 Head is cracked ?
if it is..i could UPS it to you with Flow Sheet + Cracked Head
and if you like the Bowl-Porting..just Copy it.

the 406cid made 420 HP at 5000-5500 rpm
Exxon prem gas 1.625 Headers
small 600 Double-pumper

you Pay for UPS Shipping
+ $20 for packaging

That'd be AWESOME!!! yea if it's cracked, just let me know how much you want and i'll write ya a check, otherwise if it aint cracked.... maybe just some pictures?? to see some of the differences... I'd love to have a look at those heads.

And I like the HP the setup looks similar enough to mine that i could duplicate it easy enough in a 350 package, I'd be curious about the horsepower difference (750 vs 6150 holley i got cheap, lunati 00010 cam, and with small head gaskets i could bump from my 9.3-1 to around 9.8-1 or so)

keep me posted, THANKS MAN
