Magnetic filter, usefull or waste of time?

www.filtermag.com

I could see this may be usefull on a brand new engine where the rings have not seated on the cylinder wall and all the iron filings are getting recirculated and not getting caught by the filter. But not on an engine that's already broken in.

How many microns of iron filings will it take to put wear and tear on the engine or score the cylinder walls?

Thoughts?
