lunati vs callies
lunati vs callies
Alright heres the deal. I have a callies reacemaster crank on order but it is going to take 6 weeks to get. I can get a lunati Racer Series Crankshaft and he will price match it the same and it is in stock. The application is a 434 dart block turbo car that will be putting out about 1700 hp at the crank. Which crank is best?

Re: lunati vs callies
Callies did not used to be soo popular, it takes me a month to get a crank from them, less if it's more common. The problem is that they are flying off the shelf and they cant keep up with demand.

OTOH, a good billet crank company could make just one $3K crank from scratch in a few days, but the good billet houses probably have more than a 6 week backlog.
In the manufacturing business there is a three-sided triangle labelled:
Quality, Price and Delivery. You can choose any TWO sides, but not all three.
If I were building a 1700 hp SBC I'd want the best crank I could buy, right after I sprung for a block that would hold that power.

If you're going to make big power then any opportunity to improve the odds of your bottom end staying together is an opportunity worth pursuing.
Re: lunati vs callies
Yeah i am def. going to wait on the callies. 6 weeks isn't that bad but the issue was that right now callies is making alot of LS1 cranks in their production run and won't be able to get to mine for about a month. I was just suprised they didn't stock it but i guess like you said, their sales have jumped alot. There is absolutely no reason to rush it but one guy was trying to sell me on the lunati(prob. since he would have made more off it..idk). Thanks for all the replies
