LT1 block strength....

First off, is an LT1 block bored 60 over going to be alright, if not what is maximum bore size?? The block is already 30 over, and needs bored just want to bore it but not to big.. 2nd, i want to build a nitrous motor, what are the limitations on the stock crankshaft?? i will buy a good crank if i have to, just want to know how much a stock cranshaft can hold... I already have a 396 in my car just tryin to peice togather a good back up motor, for when the stroker needs rebuilt... I am plannin on spraying at least 250 shot of nitrous, will the stock crankshaft hold it, or will it just be a time bomb waiting to blow up... thanks in advance...

Well first off, no need to go .060 unless you have too. If you do then junk that block cause it's done. .040 is about the max you would want to do on that block if you want to spray that amount on top of it all.

A stock crank can take a beating and it's not going to live forever at 250hp shot but will live for a little while. I would want 4 bolts under it if I was going to spray that much on any decent 355.

Bret knows this stuff, listen to him!

I ran my last motor 0.040" over with boost plus juice and would not go more than that. The cylinder wall thickness was OK at 0.040" over but I would not have gone more. My new motor is 0.10" over. That necessitated a custom piston, but otherwise was no problem.
