No stud girdle, really?? I guess I have been hanging around my brothers too much, they run SBF's and they seem to always run a girdle.

Does a girdle weaken the SBC or is it just more hassle and no gain??

Well a SBC was made to run 4 bolt mains, and 302/5.0L SBF's where not. So they came up with a crutch to try and help that block. The Cleveland on the other hand is a different story, that is probably the best designed motor from the 60's. It's evident that it's architecture is copied by GM, Toyota and Dodge in their top tier NASCAR motors today.

Ok thanks, and yes the Clevelands are sweet, we had a 4 barrel cleveland in a mustang and it was alot of fun and pretty quick.
