Lexan Race Glass
Lexan Race Glass
I think that I would get the most scientific answer in here.
I was reading up on how bulletproof glass works, and I saw that it is made up of layers of polycarbonate material such as Lexan, etc, so my question is, does that make Lexan racecar windows bulletproof??? I'd be quite interested to hear some opinions or facts on this.

The glass that stops AP rifel rounds, shot gun slugs and pistol bullets is about 1/2'' thick.
The race glass if it is like a Lexan hikeing water bottle and about 3/32'' it could stop lead shot gun bird shot and inderect pistol fire rifel rounds would go straight through.
No one would be able to smash it out with a bat or a brick.

Depends on the thickness and how many layers. Most Lexan windshields are 3/16 thick. A bullet would probably go right through it. 1/2" thick would probably stop or slow down most handgun bullets.
Lexan is a special plastic. Thin sheets can be cut with tin snips. Lexan can be bent and twisted and it won't break or chip. You can easily drill a hole through it.
