L88 valve springs

i have the factory L88 valve springs and i got a new cam. i got the comp magnum 248@.050, .595 lift and i wonderend if i was going to run into coil spring bind? the valves are good for .680 lift with the valve seals and retainers installed but i dont know when i encounter valve spring bind. i was running a .580 lift cam with no problems so i beleive that the .595 should be fine but im not 100%

Also do you set valve lash on the comp soild cams hot or cold it does not specify. i beleive it .025 but im not sure, but i do know for sure it dosent specify hot or cold. thanks

springs

Just lay a head with a gasket and a couple of bolts on the block and snug it down.Install 1cyl valve train and set the lash and roll it over until each valve is all the way down.Take a set of feeler guages and see if you have .050 or more between the intake and exhaust valve spring coils. If you do you are ok with the springs. You also should check your piston valve relief's with the extra lift.
It ain't pretty when you crank it up with the valves hitting the pistons.

oh... thats cool! i eventually want to be doing the same thing in the next 10 years, im young enough that i still have plenty of time. i love building engines, i have done about 15 now (the first when i was 12) and when im building them i get into a zone and its just alot of fun. i would love to do it as a hobby on the side.

It is a lot of satisfaction.I have been doing it off and on for 45 years.Since I retired I am trying to build 5-6 engines a year.
