intake vs exhaust duration?

Does extending the exhaust duration on a cam have as much of a impact on the power potentional as the intake duration? Also does longer exhaust duration, compared to intake duration, help smooth out the hp curve after the peak?

Thanks

The intake duration is going to effect it much more. Going in steps of 10deg or so, like 214,224,236 will change the curve more than doing that to the exhaust.

Basically Yes it will. A SBC usually likes a 10 deg split in the durations just because it will do this to the curve. Some motors like a Clevland Ford will like even more. Some like the LS1 seem to like no split to a max of about 10 degs.
