I don't under stand RODS 5.7",5.85",6" and pistons for C ratio

best thing to do is talk to your builder? that is what i do when contemplating changes to the combo

Some of us think that .030 is tight. .040 is usually a good number to shoot for but .035 is pretty safe most times. It all depends on the piston alloy, piston to wall clearance RPM limits etc...

A long time engine builder I know says "they run their best when the piston barely touches the head" but I would leave a little clearance because most people won't measure close enough to achieve that "barely" figure.
