HELP!...Need immediate help!...
I'm posting for Kraest (Michael, my son)...
He started the Vett this evening and for no reason the oil pressure climbed to over 95 psi...even on idle. What in the world would cause this?...
He is affraid that if he has to get out of N.O. his car may go down on the highway and leave him stranded. HELP!...
This is definately not normal. Even at idle the oil pressure is over 95 psi on both the digital gauge and the mechanical pointer. Anyone knows a quick and accurate answer...

Re: HELP!...Need immediate help!...
Only thing that comes to mind is the pressure relief valve is sticking within
the oil pump.
I'd drain the oil and screen it for metal filings. Just a hunch that some metal
got sucked up through the pickup screen and jammed the valve.
If you pull a valve cover, does the oil seem to squirt abnormally over the
rockers?
FWIW, have a look at the oil filter and change that as well. If the oil sender
is taking pressure before the filter, maybe there's a blockage in the filter and
bypass valve area?
