Help With Degreeing (searched)

I will be recieving my LE AFR heads, and my Bauer cam soon, for my 383 lt1, and wanted to double check the degreeing of the camshaft, to make sure everything is put together properly. I searched various sites that explain how this is done, the problem is they all show how to do it with the heads on the block, but my heads are off the engine. Can anyone please be kind enough to explain to me how this is done. I already purchased a cam degree kit. Thank You for your time, it is very much appreciated.

That is an easier way to do it...you don't have to deal with a hydraulic lifter...take your dial indicator and measure off the top of a lifter to get lobe lift. Set up a stop (flat piece of plate with a bolt in the middle) on top of a bore to find TDC...other than that you should have everything in your degree kit to figure it out.
