Angry HELP! Anybody recognize these rods?

I know this isn't the type of question that normally goes in this section, but I'm at a loss and don't think anybody but an engine builder can help me. I guess the people that may be able to help read this section. If the mods will allow this post for a day or two I'll gladly delete it.

Anyway, due to a series of events I'd rather not go into I am in need of one connecting rod. So far I've had zero luck locating a comparable part, and I'm getting tired of buying the wrong parts. The particulars: 6" rod for big journal sbc. This thing has markings GA on the bolt, and the number 1588 on the side of the cap/rod opposite of the number marking. It's heavy, about 667 grams total

Here it is in a pic: the one I need is on the left, the one in middle is a catpep or equivalent, the one on right an Eagle.

On a related note, does anybody need one Eagle rod?

First,

My guess is that it is a Crower. http://www.crower.com/misc/m_cat.shtml

I'm not positive.

The other thing is if you need one, just balance the crank for anything else that fits. The Eagle or Cat will work, just change the bobweight on that throw to account for that rod. Not the ideal solution, but one that will work.

That's my guess

Wow... looks like a rod that didn't quite get finished. Maybe some old h-beam claimer rod or something... very strange.

That would work except that the assembly isn't balanced. The real problem is that the difference in weight of the big end of the X rod vs Cat rod is ~30 grams. Naturally, the Cat is that much lighter. One thing I can tell you... the rod bolts on these things are junk

Instead of spending all the time and effort in trying to find a rod that may no longer exist (and even if you did locate one, good chance it won't match the weight of the other rods), you'd probably be better off buying another complete set. I'm sure you can find a used set either on this board or eBay, and a new set of Taiwanese forgings (Eagle, Scat, Summit, etc etc) are fairly cheap these days.

I mean really, is it worth all this frustration?

THanks for all the efforts guys. The ones in Summit are a Chineese forging, much like the Cat part I already have.

Curt; I'm paying for this out of my own pocket. A complete set of China rods are still well over $200 and I am not in a position to put that kind of money out if I don't have to. My damned car is going to cost another $500 this week, so.... yet it's worth the effort

Right now, I'm looking at beveling the edge off the remaining rods on the bridgeport, similar to the Cat part in an effort to remove the 28 or so grams.
