Gen 1 SBC Into LT1 Car

I am doing the swap, and plan to begin the install of the engine this weekend. I have the engine all done, the cowl is cut, and I am ready to rock.

The question I have is in regards to motor mounts. The stock LT1 mounts won't work, and have since been pitched. I have searched high and low and nobody makes a mount for this swap. So if there are people out there, what did you do?

I have a motor plate, but I am not all that wild about taking the time to engineer that thing and screw with location and such.

Any help appreciated.

why don't the stock style LT1 motor mounts work. I thought the LT1 was essentially a sbc with reverse cooling and a few minor changes. Why don't the LT1 mounts work? The bolt holes don't line up? The angle of the motor mounts? I was contemplating this swap myself and thought that the sbc could bolt right in??

I think bmr makes a k-member for this type of swap.

The bolt holes don't line up, but now after a little thought I think that a motor plate is the way I am gonna go.

I vote BMR as well. then if you decide to put an LT1 back in it will work for that as well since LT1s have the oldstlye motor mounts on them along with their own screwy ones.

Yeah I bought a BMR k-member for a traditonal SBC and used it for my LT1 b/c later on I may put a SBC in the car or my real plans are to put a 512ci. procharged BBC in which will work also BTW I already have the 512 and Procharger just in another car at the moment and still like to cruise the T/A quite a bit. But once the LT1 breaks again it's on!

Let's all say it together now.... BMR k-member.

I am running a motorplate for the time being (still sporting the LTx). This just gives me some options down the road .

Well the motor plate worked perfectly. Motor is installed and I just got home.

Just for grins I bolted up the LT1 mounts and the engine was too far forward to use the mounts. Also you can only use two of the three bolt holes on the passenger mount.

SBC in LT1 gone =
