Engine Transplant
Engine Transplant
Has anyone ever stuffed a big-block into a 4th gen and run on the street?
Will it fit? Does a big block Chevy bolt up to a TH-350 or do you need a
TH-400? (Big block BOP's bolt up to a TH-350)
Or, how about a big-bore stroked GEN I small block (400+ ci)? Can it be made to fit?
How much would you need to modify the cowl, firewall, shock towers etc?
Just looking for big power to match my 77 Trans Am with 461 Olds brute force?
Any thoughts please.

There's a few threads in this section and in the drag race tech section also. Search for "BBC" in those sections and you'll find a lot of info.
Big cube small blocks... both Dart and World Products have gen1 blocks that can go as far as 454 cubic inches (4.25x4.00" B/S). Yes they will fit in a 4th gen once you work out some header/distributor issues. BMR makes K-members that ease the installation of a gen1 SBC or BBC in a 4th gen.
