Cyl head & timing

A cyl head is going to take X amont of timing to make the most power with the given set up of an eng...

Now other then a cam change will this affect the timing curve of the eng..if so How and why.

thx

Re: Cyl head & timing

Because of the combustion chamber size and design.

Re: Cyl head & timing

Work the timing at the track or on the dyno. Don't get too hung up on a theoretical "optimum". You're talking about a combination of parts that extend way beyond the engine.

Tune for best MPH at the track.

Re: Cyl head & timing

Yes, determining optimal timing is definitely an empirical exercise. IOW, you need to experiment. Variables are huge: barometric pressure, humidity and temperature, fuel used, rod length, CR, valve timing, engine operating temperature, VE, combustion chamber design, bore size, etc., etc.
