Crane gold race rockers hitting please Help!

I have had this 1.6 gold race rockers and dual valve springs on for about a year, I have just taken them off and found that what looks like the retainer is hitting the underside of the rocker, it's only on a few rockers, this must be happening when the valve shuts, does anyone no what to do.

The car is a 1995 firebird.

They dont clear alot of double spring setups, I *think* they clear 1.630" and less, but I could be off.

Longer pushrods will get the bottom of the rocker off the retainer.

And after you install the longer push rods, polish out the nicks with a very fine stone. The nicks cause high stress points and cracks later.

Does anyone know what lengh pushrods I can go with or a part number that will work, then I could just order them. They are hardly hitting, just little knife marks.
Thanks

You will probably need something that is 1/16 or 1/8" longer than what you have. Trial and error measurement is the order of the day - and make sure that you allow .030" rocker bottom to retainer clearance 'cause things change with heat.

To measure the length you will need an adjustable pushrod (from speedshops or perhaps a local machine shop). Or you might have to make something up that is adjustable from an old pushrod and some fine thread redi-rod.

Once you find the length you need it will be back to the machine shop and their catalog or a speedshop to find something that will work. Or, some cam grinders (eg, Crower) have pushrod kits that come with an end that gets pressed in after the rod is trimmed to the correct length.

An easy way to get rid of that, is use some big pliers & turn the valve springs around, there is a point on the valve spring where the coil ends, that point is the widest, when you turn the spring to rocker clearance gets less & then more, keep going & once you hit the smallest clearance leave it at that, can be done with rockers on just turn the springs & look at the clearance get bigger
