Confused about heads for 350.....

Ok, to start a i have an 87 LT with an early 70's 350 in it. Its got flat tops, fixing to have a Comp Cams Nastalgia cam, Rpm Performer, and a Holley 670 Street Avenger. My question is on head selection. I have a set of stock 882's on it but have found where i can get a set of either 441's or 487's with 2.02/1.60 valves that were just redone for less than $500. I was under the impression that these casting made more power than the 882's but my dyno sim program says diffrent. Is my computer just stupid or should i stick with the 882's even though they have smaller valves? Any input appreciated. Thanks

I know you have to switch intakes to do it but I would install a set of vortecs, they will make more power than all those stock modified castings and will be far more efficient.I ran a set in my old camaro and they were impressive low 12's with a small cc cam 3.73 gear and a 3000 stall.

The 882....... isn't that a late model smog casting? If its the head I'm thinking about then you should forget building a performance engine around it. Waste of $ and time.

What kind of parameters are you using that would distinguish between the 882 and your other options?

For the money, the cast iron Vortec head would put you way ahead of the game FWIW.

the #882 are thin wall castings
can install up to 2.055/1.600 valves
will respond to porting , don't crack anywhere near as often as #624's

the exhaust ports have a large shaped roof valve guide slope and boss

the Vortec heads are much superior to the #882's
and a much better choice

Thanks guys, i had looked at the vortec heads but was trying to get around swapping intakes and headers. Everyone says the vortec's are much better and im sure i can get a good used set cheap. Thanks for the input.
