closer look at xpipes and hpipes
ive already seen a couple dyno comparisons by magazines that show x-pipes make more power than an h-pipe.
my understanding is that x-pipes gain power because of the scavenging effect.
h-pipes do the same but to a lesser extent?
also, there are two different types of X.
siamesed, and crossover.
people say saimesed is better, but i havent seen dyno proof to show it, so maybe one of you experts can just clarify the subject.

I'd like to know these answers, PLUS if there is a REAL advantage of running an H/X pipe over just straight true duals. I mean, if it is only a 1-2 HP gain, well, not good enough for my bucks.

but it doesnt compare siamesed X vs. crossover X
We messed around on my buddy's NMRA Pure Street car and found on the dyno that the H-Pipe made more peak, but just barely, over the X. But the X had more across the board. Both made more power and torque over open headers.......

hmm, thats very different from car craft's findings.
maybe different engines respond differently to each.
I got good results on my 96 Impala SS with a Dr. Gas X pipe. I don't know what you mean by siamesed vs. cross-over, but with the Dr. Gas you can look through the X, meaning there is line-of-sight clear path for the exhaust gas. I like that better than the other's X's I've seen where the gas has to curve it's way through the X. Hope that helps...
