Changing 6th gear ratio in T56?

What is involved in changing the 6th gear ratio of my 95 T56 tranny from .50 to say .57 like in the Tremec T56's in C5 vettes?

I have seen similar changes done to tfifth gear in T5 transmissions in Mustang's.

My whole reason for this particular change is that I am running 4.11's in the rear end and I would like the car to pull harder "only" in 6th gear. I am in the middle of rebuilding the tranny, and I wanted to see if this was possible.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I don't know if the 0.56:1 6th gear of the Z06 M12 6-speed is compatible with the F-body 6-speeds, but both the 1993 "Standard" and "G92" T56 transmissions came with a 0.62:1 6th gear which should be available from D&D Performance or another T56 specialty shop, I'd think.

You'd have to changed the 6th gear itself, along with the extension countershaft to match the "new" 6th gear. ...This is assuming the extension countershaft will work with the 5th gear you have one already....and reverse too.

With all this being said, I can't see, or at least remember from when I had my T-56 apart, why this isn't possible.

The 93 M6's 6th gear is a .62, I was thinking about going from a .62 to the 94 and ups .50. The new gear a the dealership is $150. I wanted to save gas not use more of it.

In addition to 6th gear, you'd need the proper 5/6 driven gear, since they mesh. I don't think you'd need a new countershaft extension.

As long as the new 6th gear has the same inner diameter and "cone" size as your current one, you'd use the same bearings, frictions, etc.

I can't see why it wouldn't work, although I haven't done it.
