Can you put L-31 heads on a lt1?

Let me try to make this simple so I don't look completely dumb.

I have a 383 rotating assembly and an lt1 block that have all machine done for sale.A friend called me and asked if I knew if you could bolt a set of L-31 heads on a lt1 and if not would my rotating assembly work on the truck style block.I'm pretty sure the rotating asssembly will work in the truck style block(one piece seal as well). I don't know for sure about bolting the heads on a lt1 block though. The water jackets look a lot different.Does anybody know?

The Vortec heads are equivalent to iron LT1 heads on the b-bodies. The cooling is different so they are not easily used on the LT1 block.

The "LT1" rotating assembly would be the right one for a one piece rear main truck engine.

Thanks.I did a search and saw where you can have machine work done to make the heads work, but I told my friend that it wasn't worth it.

Definately not, tell him to just use the other block with that rotating assembly. I'm not sure that L-31 heads would be able to feed a 383 anyway, depends on how high it's spinning and his power goals I guess.

The L-31 heads flow as well as the best of the as cast LT1 heads, not saying that is right for a 383 but saying that they are a very good factory head.

Well that's what I was saying, it's just not enough for a 383 in my opinion. But again, that depends on how high he is going to spin it and his power goals. Heck he might be going with a blower, in which case headflow numbers matter less.
