IMHO, "overcamming" simply refers when the drivability/HP factor reaches a point of diminishing returns - very subjective. An extra 15 peak HP may be worth that extra bit of surge and lope to Joe Schmoe, but not to Joe Lunchbucket.

Generally, a big cam will only promote power output. Bigger lift and duration only helps volumetric efficiency with poorly flowing heads - but at the expense of low RPM power and drivability. For example, a local guy put down over 400 RWHP with bone stock heads and a nasty solid roller. From a roll, we ran neck and neck! To some, the trade off in drivability and idle quality may not have been worth the extra HP deeming the set-up as "overcammed", but obviously for him, this wasn't the case

Soooo, since more cam = more power, go with as much cam as you can tolerate as far as idle quality, emissions, and drivability is concerned.

If you're still planning on slapping on a blower, just run a lil' sissy cam and still put down mad power. 'Tis the beauty of forced induction

Thumbs up

Exactly what I was thinking Jimbo! "Overcaming" sounds like an objective diagnosis, but in reality its case by case and how much of a weenie the owner is j/k.

Positve manilfold pressure rules!

thanks!

Ok fine Dave!
I like the looks of the CC XE 230/236, any thoughts on the cc306(230/244)? GTP 5(236/236) or GTP 6(235/242)? I would want all of these on a 112 LSA also.

The only thing I have to be careful of is lift. My springs are only good up to .600 so I may just need to go with 1.5's with some of the big boys.

Drivability would be a plus but I am getting a 3800 stall and only drive the car ~5000 miles a year anyway.....

Hey Matt...you might want to try to call him early in the morning (~9am cst) before he cranks up the shop. I haven't had good luck with their email.
