Can you open up the exhaust side of head to match 1470 gaskets?

I'm having my heads ported, and he wants to know which exhaust gasket I am going to use. I have used the 1406 before, but I am thinking the 1470 or 1482 will be better, and he can open the port more to match... any problems with that?

Also, does anyone know the port dimensions of the 1470? I know the 1482 is 1.74 x 1.60 (according to the SDPC catalog)

I've been searching the hell outta the web, but no luck so far.

Little late, but my heads were matched to those on the exhaus side, with the bottom floor of the port opened up and smoothed out.

It only makes sense to match to a gasket if the other side of the gasket matches up to the downstream part. Not phrased very well, but hopefully you get what I mean. Also, there is no guarantee that there is enough "meat" in the exhaust port to allow you to match the gasket.

you do NOT WANT THE HEADS TO MATCH THE GASKET! you will RUIN the heads performance, and probably strike water to boot!

Said better than I did. I know I didn't quite get the point across.

Harley didn't understand this, and some here, I'm confident, do not understand this, but bigger into smaller is not good. In lieu of being preoccupied with the size of the port (at the flange), I'd be more concerned with the 'angle of attack', shape, and making it as small as possible, not as big as possible. Water? At that size, I wouldn't bet against it.
