Can I make 400whp with this setup?
Can I make 400whp with this setup?
I've posted another thread on LS1 tech and got some negative responses. Was trying to see if anybody had any positive things to say about my build. Need some help to see if I can produce a decent running daily driver on 93 pump gas. This isnt a drag car its just a daily. I havent put anything on the car yet. I have trickflow 195cc heads with 62cc combustion chambers. A cam with the advertised duration being .584/.579 lift at .050. Part number K07-468-8 with forged pistons. Part number 17360FC-00. Trying not to detonate this thing. Like I said not a drag car just trying to shoot for around 400 wheel horsepower. The end goal is a completely forged bottom end 383 stroker motor with the same heads and cam and a 150 shot of nitrous. I have the nitrous and plan on spraying it with the heads and cam on just regular 350ci on 93 pump gas, but only a little 50 shot if needed. People are saying my compression ratio will be horrible but I've called scat and it's going to be 10:4:1 which is the same as stock, but with aluminum heads anand a huge cam(I low the cam is big but its spec'd for my 383 application, plus it should sound good). I dont want to get into a crazy compression ratio considering I'll be on pump gas at all times. What are your thoughts on this goal of 400 wheel?
Re: Can I make 400whp with this setup?
With small heads and a massively oversized cam on a stock-cube LT1? No, you’re almost certainly not going to make 400 to the wheels. I’ll guess 350, maybe less.
I suspect that cam is way too big for a 383, too. Those durations are ridiculous!
EDIT: I was looking at the advertised duration (292/300). The duration at 0.050 is 242/248. Still huge, but not the ridiculousness I thought it was.
