cam firing order question

Ok, The machinist and I where going over the final specs on my stroker motor. We where discussing the cam and he asked if I wanted to change the firing order of the cam lobes from the conventional 18436572 to 18736542. I have seen guys with drag motors do this as it does create more torque and power. My question is can I just change the wiring on the injectors by swapping the 4 and 7 plugs to make the injector fire correctly for the cam? Also I am gonna be running the LTCC kit and was wondering if I can do the same also with the coil plug? Any input on this would be great.

The cam determines when the cylinder is in the firing position. Without installing a swap cam, swapping the plug wires/injectors around will fire the plug at the end of the exhaust stroke since the cam will have just closed the exhaust valve.

The increased benifit of a 4-7 swap cam isn't very much. It takes a little bit of stress off the crank throws which will allow a bit more HP. In a low HP engine (less than 500 hp) you might see and extra 5 HP. That's hard to justify when you consider the cost of a 4-7 cam.

I thought the 4-7 cam swap thind had more to do with the 5 and 7 intake runners being adjacent and weakening the #7 intake charge. Am I wrong?

It moves the similar runners on 5-7 to 4-2 so there's no gain there except that they're now at the front of the block instead of the rear..
