Best combination to get CR=8.5 - 9?
Best combination to get CR=8.5 - 9?
I´m in the process of ordering pistons and heads for my blown Gen 1 350" (S-trim, 4-bolt 1pc 350 zz4 block). I've decided to go for the AFR 195s and custom JE pistons. I´m targeting a CR of 8.5-9 but what is the best way (combustion efficiency, reduced risk for detonation etc) to achieve the targeted CR:
#1: Small combustion chamber size (68cc) and large reverse dome pistons or
#2: Large combustion chamber size (74cc) and small reverse dome/flattop pistons?

Thanks adioSS! Since this is more or less "voodoo" stuff for me, I would appreciate if you could you elaborate a little, It´s always interesting to know the basics.

If you get the AFR's with 78cc combustion chambers, JE extreme duty -31cc dished pistons, zero deck block with a .040 head gasket you'll have right around 7.7:1 compression and will be ready for some serious boost numbers!
