Post Bad p.c.m. kills tranny 4x's in 6000km?

I posted in tech., but thought someone here could help too. After the fourth rebuild(2-4band?) shop finally did some investigating and figures p.c.m. is culprit. They hooked up solenoid under hood directly to computer and still throws same codes. Ever here of this? ALso does new p.c.m. have to be programmed for having a slightly bigger stall,trans-go,vette servo etc.?Thanks in advance guys.

What codes are you getting? What things have you eliminated as being the problem already? Can you give some more details? Thanks!

I am having my transmission rebuilt now and it sounds like I am having the same problem. The builder said he could not find any reason why my transmission failed.

Guys if you have not seen me post on this before it could be news to you. Your PCM has the power to kill your transmission in one pass If it is not programed correctly.

The moment you start changing the power out put of your car the PCM needs to be reprogrammed to match or it has no chance in hell to live.

Many early failures were related to the installation of a larger throttle body. This throws the entire power input curve off and the transmission has no chance to live.

You MUST program for power!

As mentioned What are the codes you are getting?

Good Luck!

I keep reading your post about reprogramming pcm, and some VB? but can't seem to find anything that explains what area to reprogram. Are you refering to trans pressure tables or fuel enrichment, or timing. It seems you have all the info but I can't find it. Also your car runs in mid 12's and my trans worked fine in that range stock also, but when your in the 11.03@122 with 1.60 60' then things change! Also noted that your trans doesnt have a stock valve body anymore so how much did that help and did that make a difference, cause now its not stock anymore.

Question

94bonefast -

What symptoms were you having before the tranny KO'd ??

My '99 SS w/ a 2800 stall is acting up intermittently - the car will shudder & buck for a few moments when in drive after a hot start - it will not do it cold.

It seems to clear itself up after a few feet , and then will not do it again until perhaps the next hot start.

There are no codes showing, and the tranny fluid is still clean looking & smells normal.

This started after I drove in a really hard rainstorm - like 3" in 45 minutes !!

Could a connection have gotten wet ??

Thanks !

Britt

i had art carr rebuild my trans 1 year ago & it lasted 1 week & we checked the line pressure & cked for codes with a tech 2 scanner the car had no codes & it had no line pressure either art carr rebuilt the trans again & replaced all the solenoids & i replaced the pcm & yes you do have to reprogram your new pcm thats why art carr now recommends replacing all the solenoids on every rebuild
