Hey Taner,
Please do keep us or at least me updated as to what you came out with for CFM. I do have a AFR cataloge showing flow numbers and would be more then happy to give them to you. Then again AFR flow numbers are never what they advertise. As for flow numbers I for one am very interested to know the results so PLEASE do let me know.
As things happen it looks as if I will be taking a trip thru your neck of the country November 12th or 13th. Looks as if this is what it has come to in order to get a response. I guess a five hour one way trip has always been what I wanted to do just so I can be able to speak with someone. One thing is for certain and that is all excusses will be over with and me my stuff and my money will go else ware!
It's really to bad but what else is there to do? Good news is I have something lined up already to finish the project and verify and double check all the rest. Will be very interesting.
See Ya,

man that is crappy to hear!!!
but as you mentioned on the up side you have a gameplan in place! could you post or email the advertised #'s for those heads? and what do you mean they are rarely what they are advertised, better or worse? just curious i guess.
what kind of numbers can be achieved when they are ported to their potential?
more weight is coming out, cage is getting finished, and the motor is being freshend by someone in Windosr!
i will brag about him come the spring time!
keep in touch.

From AFR's website:
Lift Int Exh
.200 135 112
.300 192 145
.400 250 185
.500 288 205
.550 290 210
.600 292 215
I didn't bother posting over .600 since it's pretty well maxed out at that point on both intake and exhaust.
They flow 'em at 28"

Hi Taner,
AFR 227 LT4 Heads
Quoted flow numbers from AFR:
1. Stage 1 or Race Ready which intake runners will only be CNC ported 70% in and the exhaust will be 100% CNC ported as well as bowl area is 100%CNC ported
These flow numbers where established using CFM@28" H20.
2. Stage 2 or Competition package 100% CNC ported runner flow#.
Intake 294 298 303 305 309
Exhaust 207 213 220 225 230
Stage 1 Flow#
Intake 288 290 292 295 295
Exhaust 205 210 215 218 220

Valve Lift .500 .550 .600 .650 .700
These lift number are what AFR quotes. I had my AFR heads flowed and my flow numbers where all off from about 10 to 15% less then what AFR quoted. As for best flow numbers obtained with these heads well I have heard from people say anything from 310 to 330. But then again that is the word around the camp fire and you know how reliable that is. LOL! I do know this converting over to a single plan intake does in fact produce very solid horsepower numbers on the top end of a power band. Its just to bad that the LT4 intake will run out of breath at around 5500 to 6000. Heck our power bands are just start to really come on.
On different note I recieved a call today and I was told everything would be completed and I could pick it up on November 15th. Ther was only one person allowed to assemble it due to the fact of the nature of the setup? I'm guessing the 500 to 600 shot of nitrous to be used might have something to do with it? Either way I'm just happy to have a pickup date.
Peace

if i remember right,my AFR 220's flowed 280 at my head guy's bench. that was something like 6-9 cfm off what afr posted on the site. considering all benches are different,im happy with that.
On the upside, with a mild cleanup,he gained 25-30 cfm and that should be good for me for now.]
i havent gotten the heads back yet,but when i get the final numbers i'll post em up.

Get ride of the AFR'S and run the Dart Lttle Chief Heads. How about 480 to 500 cfm on the intake and exhaust flowing 390 or better. IMO the AFR heads are over priced and machine quality suck!
I seen what mine(AFR) flowed and considering the extra cash I had to put into them after I purchased them I could have purchased a kick A S S set of 18 or possibly 14 degree heads that make the AFR flow numbers look like they came from a Briggs and Stratton lawn mower motor.

No one said speed is cheap and if your looking to be first then then cost sometimes doesn't matter.
Look to see these heads on Rod Sabory's new engine that Mike Moran is building. Rod's new twin turbo small block will be one strong combination to face in the up coming NSCA for 2004.
