Every set up is different so don't count on anybody else's length to work.

exactly, I took a lifter, took the stuffings out of it and put a screw inside then put the top back on to make it solid, bought a comp cams adjustable pushrod, put just the inner valve spring on and a piece of tape on the valve stem, adjusted the rockers, turned her over once and saw where the roller had rolled on the valve, closer to the exhaust side of the head = too long, closer to the intake = short, just int he middle is where you want it. Then read what the pushrod says and buy that pushrod.

The middle is OK but I like to get the smallest width pattern and get is as close to the middle as ya can.Just my preference.

I had standard 7.2s in my motor until I put a checked in for piece of mind. I ended up getting some 7.3s.
Nothing too crazy..232/236, .600/.612 @114 cam, minimal milling to the heads. I'll check again when I put the new cam in it.
