8.1L to LS1 Swap

What is the phisical size difference of the 8.1L Is this swap possible in an F-bd or C5 Corvette. I have seen what some of the marine tuner shopd have done with them (1000hp on 93 oct) I just think it would be a cool swap for a Dyno Queen show car. What is the weight penilty you would take by doing the swap?

I Know Motor Trend had a 4th Gen with a 502 in it. I guess that's 8.1L, I never figured it out.

I actually got to email the producer of the show Motor Trend Television about it, and his words were "As long as you held your foot down, it would spin the rear tires. He said for a photo shoot, they hammered it, and she spun 'em all the way down the quarter

I'm sure there was a lot of shoe-horning going on, but it would be cool in my book.

There are some architecure differences (Firing Order etc) but for the most part the 8.1/496ci BBC they're putting in these rigs anymore would be more easily/cheaply done in a standard Big Block. Name your size. Crate Engines are available anywhere from 396s on up to 638" mills.

As far as packaging it into the F-Body? As mentioned its been done before, but open yer wallet.
