I have a 87 IROC with a 700r4 4-speed automatic transmission. I want to get rid of the auto and put in a T-56 manual tranny out of a 96 z28. If any of you guys have ever done this before, i could use some help before i start. First of all, what parts do i need? so far all i have is the t-56(i believe its a t-56, it is a 6 speed out of a 96 z28). what steps or process would i have to go through? and just exactly how hard is it? thanks for any help you guys can give me.

 

There was a magazine that did an article in putting the T56 in a 3rd Gen (yes, if you have the M6 out of a 96 Z28, it is a B-W T56). The work for that article was done by Steve Spohn at Spohn Performance:
