Post 700R4 rebuild, where did i go wrong??

OK disappointment just set in, I just installed my 700R4 after I rebuilt it. I started the car and I could hear a clicking sound. I go through the gears and find out I don't have reverse. Where did I go wrong??

Also how many quarts should it take after a rebuild??

I put a new stock converter in, are you supposed to fill it with tranny fluid?? I filled it as much as I could to the point where some spilled out as I was putting it on.

Please help,
John

I would delete this but it was a good learning experience for me.

Found the clicking noise, it was an improperly installed flywheel dust cover (i can be such an idiot sometimes)

it wouldn't go into reverse because it didn't have enough tranny fluid. It took almost 9 quarts, thats quite a bit more that the capacity chart says in the chilton manual!

now my only question is how long will it take to find out if I messed anything up?

My excitement is up again, THANK YOU to everyone who helped guide me through my first tranny rebuild, SINCERELY!!

Thanks again
John

just check the fluid color, if you did everything right it will continue to stay red for quite some time.
