"425 horsepower proven" LT1 to LT4

here is my question i have 96 SS m6. My question is I have wanted to improve my horspower for the best bang for the buck, so at GM parts direct and Summit Racing they have advertisment for the conversion from lt1 to lt4 and it comes with the roler rockers lt4 intake heads etc.. the whole nine yards. But from the factory lt4 came with about 330 horsepower, what is the big differnce from that lt4 and this kit? If anybody has any input or experience with this kit or any inside that would be a big money saver.
Thanks
Brian

Re: "425 horsepower proven" LT1 to LT4

The kit has a much bigger cam shaft then the regular LT4 cam, they also estimate this number with headers not manifolds, so yeah, because I think the regular LT4 engines all had roller rockers, so it would be exhaust/bigger cam making the difference here.

But 425 might be pushing it, unless you do absolutely everything this means, good headers, thin impala head gaskets to boost compression, TB, ported intake and true duals and use sythetic oil etc... in the engine sure cuz thats like 369rwhp.

The LT4 kit bolted on a '97 SS makes 340rwhp with no tuning. 425 subtract 15% for drivetrain loss (estimate) is 361rwhp, so with tuning it is very possible that it is a 425hp package.

LOL oops got my math wrong yes 361rwhp, but thats still hard to get with a hotcam and LT4 heads no offense, need everything from true duals to the smallest thing IMO.

IMO you need very good ported heads to get that with heads.

Not even remotely close to Advanced Tech.

This topic has been covered frequently on other "correct" forums. It is not an "Advanced Tech" topic. Please try a "search". I know I have posted several times what MORE Performance did to get 425 flywheelHP on the LT4 conversion.
