Using nitrous on a boosted engine: is that cross-addiction?

Bret: the pistons will need to be custom in any case, due to 10 over size, but JE wasn't too keen on the partcular combo of the crown whch I want to use and the short compression height.

Yeah for what you are looking at the most you could really run with a 3.875" stroke is about a 5.850" rod. Might as well go with the 5.7" rod.

Rich, if you don't mind me asking, why are you limiting yourself to a 0.010" overbore? The wide range of pistons available for a 0.030" over bore would make this a lot easier, obviously, and there'd still be enough left to clean up the block with another small overbore if it ever needed to be rebuilt. Are you simply trying to maintain the maximum amount of cylinder wall thickness possible?

That's my thinking

I caught this thread kinda late but its kinda interesting. I know if I had it to do over again, I would have gone a little different route. I have the Carillo rods with the oiling to the wrist pin. As trick and strong as they are, they are killer huge and made the 3.750 stroke combo a nightmare for clearancing. We already hit water so I had to make that call to Jeg's for some hardblok which I was going to use a bit of anyway but not to the extent I will now cause this is still a street car. If I didn't have so much in my pistons and cam I would have just scrapped the block and gone back with a stock stroke and a different cam so I could still utilize the rods.

If I was boosted it would be a no brainer to stay with the stock stroke so I could utilize a beefy piston and beefy rod. As much as I like the LT1 I'm almost positive this will be my last go round with it. The dom's are beggin' for some cubes and the LT1 block just can't get me where I want to be.

Jim: yes, it's to keep the cylinders as thick as possible. Will 0.020" make a difference? Probably not. But the pistons I am going to use can be had 0.010" over, so why not?

Bobby: I thought about reverting to a stock stroke, but the block is already clearanced and I was planning on a partial fill anyway.
