22psi at idle?

Using Quaker State 10W40 dino oil. Car has less than 50 miles on the new motor. Hasn't seen more than 2500rpm.

I'm seeing 22/24psi at idle when the car is hot.

I have a Canton oil pan with a stock volume pump.

Should I change to a thicker oil?

Engine builder said he was building a bit on the loose side because his SBC circle track motors live longer that way.

Re: 22psi at idle?

I see nothing wrong with 22# at idle (~900 RPM?)

My stock pump with black pressure spring produces about 20 PSI at
800 RPM and up to 45 PSI @ 6000 RPM (all at operating temp.)

Sounds normal to me with a stock pump.
