Re: zr1 wheels?

I am going to be running 335's on my ZR1's that are 11" wide. I am trial fitting a lot, and everything looks like it is going to fit. I cut out all the metal 1" bellow the rear coils. I am also banging in that metal lip that is in there. I am dropping the car a lot. So I might need to jack the back up a bit. Up front I am going to run 275's. If you guys want links or pics of a more in depth explanation. I can give all of the above. I am pretty dedicated and am gonna do whatever it takes to get these huge meats to fit.

Re: zr1 wheels?

And too add to the confusion, not all 4th gen rears are created equal. The 97 and earlier rears were close to 4" wider than a 3rd gen rear, while the 98 and later were shorter, only about 3" wider than a 3rd gen rear.

OK look on page 11 of my site, there you can see 335's under a third gen, on gunmetal ZR1's. http://members.cardomain.com/dennisbernal91z

Wow! Those hang WAY outside the quarter panels. See how much they stick out? That's how far they should tuck inside. They make look good now, but once its loaded, and you hit so much as a pebble, you're going to smack that panel down on the tire. Unless of course you jack up the rear or widen the quarter panels.

I would discourage anyone from attempting this above.

Re: zr1 wheels?

Oh well. As long as I like it. Thanks for your opinions though. The 335's will be on there till I get enough money to buy some 315's, Like it says on my page. This will bring it in a little bit more. As for how much it sticks out, I personally think you guys are overreacting. Measuring staight down from the quarter, they come out less than 2 centimeters. Oh well, I think it looks pretty bad ***, and I am sure no one else around here will have this set up. If you don't like how it looks, thats cool. But you gotta admit it is pretty origional to see 335's on a third gen.

-I will post more pic on my sitre as the car builds up/ keep checking back.

-Dennis

Re: zr1 wheels?

335 is indeed a large tire but it should look right, just my opinion though. my 295's were huge but you didn't know they were that large unless you really looked which was the style i was going for. you definately can't miss those.

Re: zr1 wheels?

Yeah. 295's sound like they would fit pretty good. Thing is I was presented with a deal for these tires I couldn't turn down. I got all 4, (2) 335's and (2) 275's for 235 bucks slightly used. Maybe I will consider 295's, you got any pics? thanks
