Yes a 350 will bolt up to your Tranny all you have to do is some minor mods ( I dont know what) YOu might want to head over to www.thirdgen.org & ask those guys.

The tranny will need a new bellhousing to bolt up, and it won't be able to handle the power from what I was told. You have to swap the engine and tranny, plus quite a few other parts (ECM, fuel pump, headers, etc). If you have to ask then you are probably going to be paying someone to do it for you, and in that case just buy another car. I am in the same situation and I'm putting money down on a good 350 for my 1980 camaro (my race car as opposed to my V6 crusing car).

Re: yo guys i need a lil help on this
For the thirdgen V8 I would just find a wrecked donar car. Then everything you need is right there, no running around junkyards looking for a little part that's missing. Wrecked thirdgens are cheap enough that if you have the room thats the way to go you could probably make half your money back parting the rest of the car out too.
I thought quite a bit of work was required to get the LT1 into a thirdgen, or was it the LS1 that was a PITA? I recall somthing about the AC not fitting right as well. As was already said go to thirdgen.org there are a bunch of threads on it.

You can use your V6 tranny.
These are what you need to get
V8 Flywheel
V8 Bellhousing
V8 Pressure Plate
V6 Clutch Disc
An LT1 or L98 motor will probably tear the tranny to shreds the first time you launch it hard. A 305 should be ok for the tranny.
