wiring harness help

Unhappy wiring harness help

o.k. when i put my motor back in my 84 berlinetta it snagged a wiring harness that came through the firewall tore a few wires and pulled off the insulation on the others how hard is it to get to these wires from the inside to repair? what do these wires control? any help would be useful

was it the small harness? like 1/2 dia.? if it is that is the starter, and heat control wires(blower and resistor) good luck

nope bigger wiring harness bout 1 1/2 to 2 inches on passenger side

305 same engine going back in just rebuilt call me crazy but i love the 305

So the harness that got snagged is the one that lays on top of the motor? and you want to fix the wires from the inside? did it get stretched that far it pulled at the a/c box?.....My 85z had two different harnesses 1 for the ecm and 1 fot the engine so going to a carb was Very easy. do you have two?

not sure which one but the harness comes out of the firewall down by the transmission now that i think about it. it might be the smaller harness.

Yea that one does the heat so follow those back from the relay if you have air, and from the resisstor if you dont. there will be a heavy gauge purple wire that is the start wire, you should have a tan wire thats the oil pressure wire, and I think the temp wire feeds thru there too it`s green. yellow,blue and I think brown are the heat. As far as getting them from the inside it will be tough, if you pull the grommet off the wall the wires on the side should be examinable.

cant really look at it right now. its at my aunts house but i have to repair from inside cause theres no slack in wires do you think it will still crank oh by the way nice camaro

yea it should crank if the purple wire has not been pulled in two; and thanks for the comp on my car!

thanks wont get to check for a couple weeks though due to being broke and its a 50 mile drive would love to get ti going its been down bout 2 years
