Will This Work?

I've been looking for a good project this winter, and my dad and I thought of something that we think is a pretty good idea, but we dont' know if it'll work....We want to find a totalled out 93-97 z28 or trans am, and completely swap over everything. I know the seats will swap over for sure, but the rest of the interior might take some effort like dash, center console, etc...the big thing I want to know about is the drivetrain...I want the complete drivetrain in my car becuase my rearend is shot, and I want a LT1 motor with a 6 speed tranny, and I have an automatic, so that'll take some fabrication....will the whole drivetrain fit right, if not what needs to be done...does the driveshaft have to be shortened?? will the rearend be fine, like width wise??? any input will be appreciated..thank you

the drivetrain will fit lengthwise and "bolt right in"(cut hole for shifter and get different crossmember), but widthwise the axle tubes are 2 inches longer because of the offset in the 4th gen rims, just someting to think about, but if you are keeping the rims then there shouldnt be any problem

If your swapping a 4th gen rear into a thirdgen the tires will stick out 2in pased the fenders and look like crap. You need to use 4th gen wheels and that will solve the problem in the back, but up front you will need to use spacers to make the 4th gen wheels fit correctly. Unless you want to have differant rims in the front and in the back

alright...awesome, that just made my day...I'm gonna really look into that project and thanks for all the input...i'm probably gonna get osme vette rims anyways, so i'll just get some spacers for the front...one more question....i got a 350 out of a 1990 vette with about 30,000 miles on it, with a 700r4 tranny with a shiftkit, how much can i get for the motor and trans if I were to sell it?? Everything is tuned right also..how much would I be able to sell the rest of my drivetrain? just looking for some ballpark figures, thanx
