will these tires fit?
will these tires fit?
ok, i got a deal on some tires from a friend. i have an 83z and my back tires right now are 275/60/15 and i got a set of hoosiers from him for only $25 a tire with over half tread left. they are 285/65/15 and i'm wondering if they'll still fit in the wheel wells of my car? he said he's running 295's on his 87 iroc but i don't know if he's talkin out of his @$$ or not....
Re: will these tires fit?
A word about tires: 275, 285, 295 all refer to how wide the tire tread is in millimeters. So a 275 would be 10.82" wide, 285 would be 11.22" wide etc. the 60 or 65 refers to what percentage of the tread width the height of the sidewalls are. So a 245 45ZR17 will have a sidewall of 4.34" tall while a 285 65R 16 will have a 7.29" tall sidewall. So, look at the new tires placed next to your car and see if you think that they have enough clearance to fit without hitting/rubbing on anything.
Re: will these tires fit?
yes i know what all of the numbers mean, and thats why i asked if anyone else knew if they'd fit or not. i dont want the tires to be too wide and rub on the inside or too tall and rub on the wheel wells. so my question still stands, will they fit? anyone else running tires close to this size?
Re: will these tires fit?
Are they mounted on wheels? Put them on the car and see. I've seen 315's on a Camaro before. Doesn't mean it wasn't modified to fit them though. Try them out

I went from the 16" 245/50's to 17" 245/45's because I thought that 16" combo didn't look right.
with my tall tires and small rims....
