Question Will platinum plugs burn out faster????

If i put platinum plugs in my 305 TPI will they burn out faster than regular plugs? Also, are bosch platinums +4 better than Rapidfires? Thanks

No, platinum plugs burn hotter and will stay clean and hold their gap longer than ordinary plugs. I don't think you need to resort to the 4 pronged jobbies, though. A single electrode platinum plug ought to be just fine.

Don't waste your time and money with the +4 things. the only thing your gonna get out of the +4's are longevity, it's basically 4 plugs in one. Electric current does not go to all four prongs at the same time, it goes to the one with the least resistance. As time goes on, and that one gets worn, a different prong will have less resistance and the spark will travel there instead, and so on and so on...

I've got a friend with a fox 5.0hat had those things, and he had terrible idle surges. He ditched them for some good ole autolites and never had the problem again. Just food for thought.

If you absolutely feel the need for platnums just go with a set of delco's. Its all your ever gonna need.

Don't waste your money on either. Instead, buy the factory AC Delco's and modify em, like this-

spark plug

They might burn up a little faster, but they only cost a buck a piece, so no harm done. Dyno tested by NUMEROUS companies/magazines. Good for 5-7 HP on a stock run of the mill smogger 350. Maybe more with a good coil.

Just get some ac-delco's or some champions make sure they are the right length inside the chamber and that they are gapped. +4 foul out really quickly, espically if your playing with the timing to get it to run right.. I went through four sets of plugs before I got my car to run right. Never using +4's or the reg bosch's ever again.
