yes they do.

I was going to build an L98 with LE2 heads on it not too long ago. Ditched plans and put the heads on my 383 instead. You need to weld shut some passages in the deck and redrill them, and either plug the passages in the back of the head, or run them to the water pump.

You can then either modify the bolt pattern for the TPI base, or do what I did, and buy an Accel LT1 intake base for TPI style intakes. There was one floating around the boards I didn't buy a couple months ago for a pretty good price. Not common to see them anymore since they stopped making them in '01 I think. If you do either, you need to drill the front intake face on the head into the coolant passages, or you wont get coolant into the top of the engine for the thermostat and CTS. If you made this an LT1 based engine, it wouldn't matter.

LT1 cam will work in an L98. Alot better than the peanut by far, but that's a 305 A4 cam. Not a very big step up from the L98 cam at all. I'd go bigger for your trouble.

Wait a min the LT1 heads are reverse flow where our heads are not.

I just bought a set of AFR heads from AMP performance & couldnt be happier better flow & what have you than most anything out on the market for the cars.

I also went with a LPE Cam.

the holes get welded up and redrilled, pretty inexpensive to do!if you go to www.thidgen.org you will see how they are welded in the tpi forum

LT1 are reverse flow... all that means is that coolant is routed through the heads first on both sides of the block. In a Gen 1, coolant goes in one side of the pump and out the other, without being directed in any particular location. You can see this by comparing pumps/blocks. As far as the heads go, there's 2 passages on each head that need to be welded and redrilled, or coolant will dump into the lifter valley.

AFR heads are pretty nice heads. I have some LE2's and for what they are, I couldn't be happier, and they flow alot more than advertised, more than AFR's. Only thing I like more about the AFR heads is that they have more meat for porting. If I could I'd trade off my LE2's and get some AFR 195's, just for that reason.

LPE cam's seem to be 'the' cam to use people looking for a mild mannered engine that makes HP and tq. kinda like a TPI car or superramed car. IMHO, with the design of the LT1 intake, I'd go with another cam to take advantage of the shorter runners. cc306 and gm847 are two contenders I like as far as out of the box cams go; one to help exhaust flow with an aggressive sound, the other for max HP and midrange from the desk at GM. The LPE cams seem to work well with the LT1 too, seems to help the intake issue.

I have an LPE cam going in a 'tuned port' LT1 replacing the LB9 in my '86 IROC.

I went with a set of 1036 AFR heads with the up graded springs (sort of have to go with them)

& the cam I went with is www.lingenfelter.com/store/lpe-74216.html

I dont know about the cam but ive been told that LT1 heads wont work on "classic" style blocks because the LT1 has reverse cooling

There is a thread on thirdgen that details all the mods necessary to use on a gen 1 engine. May be a sticky, if not a search will find it. Guy did some good work on them and after porting good numbers.
