why are sparks created when the battery is reconnected on a car

why do litle sparks happen when the battery is reconected?
this seems to happen on all cars, but that would mean that they are all slowely draining?
i know it may seem like a dumb question, sorry.

Most cars have small curret draws when they are shut off from the ECM and radios. This causes the sparks when you place the terminals together. The draw is in the range off milliamps.

if you're going to store it more than a month, disconnect the battery, I'd say..

If you don't have any big draws going on, like a light that stays on, or a radio where the display stays on.. then it should last a month or more..

get a battery disconnect, REALLY easy to use, and no wrenches required. perfect, if you always work on your car
