It's mainly to keep the threads from being more sig than anything else. That's a big drain on bandwidth and makes it more expensive to run the site. You wouldn't want them to have to start using popups would you?

I tell you what! I have washed my car already almost 3 times this week...POLLEN SUCK! that crap gets everywhere, it even finds a way to get under my car cover when in the garage. I cant wait for some rain to wash that crap out of the air...
