the whole story

ok the whole story on my starter problem is... the starter solinoide was going bad on my starter(or I think it was...after the motor got to normal temp. and i turned off the car and went back within 10-15 min to restart it would do nothing) so i removved the starter from the car and changed the solinoide while I had it off i was suggested to put a heat sheild on it so i installed the heat sheild over the solinoide and reinstalled the starter. I then hooked the battery back up and tryed to start it. it would not doanything, so I assumed that the sheild might have shorted it out. I took the starter back off removed the sheild, reinstalled with no luck. I have check all the fuses replaced the fusable links to the starter, changed the solinoide back but I am missing something ....I need some advise...thanks (91 z-28 with 350 tpi)

this might be a stupid question, but is the battery charged up? Maybe it had enough juice to start it once then didn't charge. Is it clicking the solenoid when you hit the key? or is it just nothing? another thing might be dirty terminals.
